Examining the hydrophobic properties of electrospun oxide-induced polystyrene nanofibers for application in oil-water separation

Nanofibers have great importance in the membrane technology used hydrophobic surface filtration studies applied to water-oil separation products. This study improves upon properties of electrospun polystyrene-based nanofibers by increasing contact angles. As a result, been produced adding ZnO, MoO3, NiO, SiO2, and TiO2 additives polystyrene (PS)/dimethylformamide (DMF) polymer solution at 5% mass. Surface angle (CA), fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscope (SEM) images were taken. The obtained results evaluated show fiber diameter range from 555 1553 nm. addition process was observed be able affect fiber’s ability retain water. Moreover, increased 143° addition. Furthermore, highest oil-carrying capacity is concluded on SiO2 MoO3 doped fibers.
